My Story

My name is Ben Tackett and I am a Pittsburgh Lacrosse product.

 

growing up in the Pittsburgh area, I am very familiar with the lacrosse scene.  I began playing in 6th grade for a neighboring school district. in 9th grade i played on my high school's inaugural team. By the time i was a junior the sport had become a passion, but appeared to have a quickly approaching expiration date. 

 

with the help of my parents I decided to transfer to the Kiski School halfway through my senior year and re-class as a second semester junior. the jump allotted me two years to not only get a much desired look, but also to mature in preparation for the college experience.

The move worked out, and after two seasons under coach Spahn ('13, '14), I committed to play lacrosse at Rochester Institute of technology For coach Jake Coon and the tigers. Where I played all four years, and finished my career with two Division 3 final 4 appearances (2015, 2018) and a National runner-up (2017). My senior year i was named a Captain by my peers and award the 2018 "coaches' award."

In 2019 I was contacted by a few MLL teams and eventually signed by the Dallas Rattlers with an invite to the 2019 training camp.  After a weekend of training camp, and a weekend of scrimmages, I was brought on to the practice squad for the beginning of the 2019 season.

My coaching career started at Hampton High School as the offensive Coordinator. I continued on to RMU the following season as a volunteer assistant. Finally I went back to Kiski and have been on the staff as the defensive coordinator since 2021.
